Pet Insurance Made Simple at Veterinary Park Potomac

Bringing your pet in for care already comes with a lot to think about, and worrying about how your insurance fits into the visit shouldn’t be part of that. Pet insurance works differently than human health insurance, and many families in Potomac, Rockville, and the surrounding DC area aren’t sure what to expect when it comes time to use their policy. At Veterinary Park Potomac, we want every pet owner to feel confident about their coverage before, during, and after their visit. As an independently owned practice, we take the time to walk you through what your insurance can do for you and support you through the process, no matter which provider you carry.

Insurance Information

We Accept All Pet Insurance Plans

Pet insurance typically operates on a reimbursement model rather than a direct billing model. This means you pay for your pet’s visit at the time of service, then submit a claim to your insurance provider afterward for reimbursement. Because coverage works this way, we are able to see pet owners with any insurance plan, no matter which company issued it.

We regularly work with clients carrying the following pet insurance providers, among others:

  • Trupanion
  • Nationwide
  • Healthy Paws
  • ASPCA Pet Insurance
  • Figo
  • Embrace

Trupanion is the one exception to the reimbursement process. If you carry a Trupanion policy, we can submit your claim directly to them on your behalf, so you have one less step to manage after your appointment.

Paying For Your Pet’s Visit

What To Expect At Checkout

Because most pet insurance reimburses you after the fact, payment for your visit is collected at checkout, the same as it would be without a policy. Once your visit is complete, you can submit your invoice and any supporting documentation to your insurance provider to start your reimbursement claim, following whatever steps your specific carrier requires.

Our front desk team can walk you through your invoice before you leave and answer any questions about what your insurance provider may need from you. We want you to leave with everything necessary to file your claim without extra back-and-forth.

For your convenience, we accept cash, credit cards, checks, Apple Pay, and Google Pay at checkout, so you can choose whichever payment method works best for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Insurance can raise a lot of questions, especially for pet owners who are new to coverage or new to our practice. Here are a few of the questions we hear most often from families in the Potomac area.

Yes. Because pet insurance works on a reimbursement basis, we are able to see patients with any insurance provider. You pay for your visit at checkout, then file a claim with your insurance company afterward for reimbursement.

In most cases, you will need to submit the claim yourself once your visit is complete. Trupanion is the one exception, as we are able to submit claims directly to them on your behalf.

That’s not a problem. Because pet insurance reimburses you after your visit rather than covering costs upfront, having a policy is not required to receive care. Whether or not you carry insurance, our team is here to help you and your pet every step of the way.
