Jessie

Jessie grew up in WV where she lived on a small farm helping take care of horses, cattle, bulls, dogs and cats. Her love continued to grow after she graduated from college with a Bachelor’s in Health Science. She took a summer job at her local veterinarian where she realized her true love was working with animals. Since then, she moved to Maryland with her Husband and continued to work in Veterinary Medicine. She has been in the field for 10 years, spending her time working in Primary, Specialty, and Emergency Care. Jessie met Dr. Katie several years ago while working overnights in the Emergency Room. She shared Dr. Katie’s dream of helping her open a Primary Care Hospital that provided the Gold Standard of Medicine to all pets. In her free time Jessie enjoys spending time with her Husband Joe, senior Pitbull Poppy and their 3 cats Dawn, Dakota, and Taco.

Receptionist & Veterinary Assistant

Kathy

Kathy has been working in the Veterinary field since 2017. She accidentally fell into the industry while looking for a change in careers, going from working with children to working with animals. Beginning as a Receptionist, Kathy gained knowledge in Wellness Care, Preventative Care & Urgent Care. During the pandemic, with influx of new patients, Kathy transitioned into the Veterinary Technician position. Kathy is continuing to grow and develop her knowledge in the field alongside Dr. Katie, who has become an amazing mentor. Kathy became a dog mom to a 2-year-old Yorkie mix named Simba and was fortunate enough to meet 6-year-old Pitbull mix, Lex, about 4 years ago. They both now have her heart and in her free time she enjoys various outdoor activities, spending time with family & friends with the occasional soccer matches. Working in this field has taught Kathy that animal care is especially important, and she hopes spread awareness and educate others on the topic.

Lead Receptionist

Rain

Rain has always loved animals and dreamt of working with them since she was little. Rain grew up around dogs since the age of 5 and currently has 2 adorable dogs, a 12 yr. old Golden Retriever named Patrick and a 5 yr. old Labrador Retriever named Buddy. They have inspired Rain to take this step in her career and she hopes to become a better dog mom to them along the way. This is Rain’s first year working in the Veterinary field and she couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the VPP team! Rain is eager to begin learning everything she can and start putting it into practice, as well as helping those around her become more knowledgeable to help their own pets. She couldn’t think of a better place to begin this new chapter and is very grateful that Dr. Katie has given her this opportunity. Rain truly believes that animals speak to us not only through sound but also through body language, which is why we must listen with our eyes in addition to our ears. Rain feels lucky to have found a practice that shares the same beliefs and values as her when it comes to not only the importance of pet health care but also how it is practiced, making the pets as comfortable and stress free as possible. Rain’s goals are to expand her knowledge and eventually become a Technician.

Veterinary Assistant

Marine

Marine spent most of her life in England while also working in France, Scotland, Ireland and now America! She is French, with a Scottish accent. Most of her animal care has been spent with horses while she provides lessons and became an Animal Behaviorist overseas. Her interest in expanding her knowledge to Small Animal Medicine brought her to Veterinary Park Potomac where she works as an Assistant. In her spare time Marine enjoy going horseback riding and spending time with her Husband Sebastian and 3-year-old son, Morgan. Marine hopes to continue learning about canine and feline health under Dr. Katie and strives to become a Technician.

Veterinary Assistant

Rachel

Rachel grew up in Montgomery County and graduated from Clarksburg High School. She graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor of Science and is currently working towards her Masters in Microbiology at the University of Florida. She hopes to either pursue becoming a veterinarian or a microbiologist. Ever since Rachel was a little girl, she loved all animals. After taking a basic anatomy and physiology course in high school, it sparked her interest in veterinary medicine. For the past 8 years she has volunteered and worked in a variety of animal practices such as Maryland SPCA and Second Chance Wildlife Center. She lives with her mom, her younger brother, Mae (cat), Otis (hamster), and a school of fishes.

Veterinary Assistant

Roxanne

Roxanne grew up in College Park, MD and always had an interest in animals. During High School Roxanne started volunteering at a local animal shelter and continued through her college years. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts and Masters in Education, Roxanne found her soul dog, Murphy, who accompanied her for years and fueled her passion for taking care of animals. Roxanne switched from corporate retail to the veterinary field nearly 10 years ago and started out as a Veterinary Receptionist. She quickly progressed to a Veterinary Assistant for several years then became an ICU Technician in an Emergency Animal Hospital and recently joined VPP part time while pursuing Veterinary Technician School to become licensed. Roxanne has two cattle dog mixed puppies named Pepper and Rizzo that love coming to work with her and enjoy their hikes in the woods during her days off.
